May 4, 1989: An old professor, who joined the 1919 May 4 movement seventy years ago, makes a speech to support the students’ appeals outside the municipal office.

May 10, 1989: The bicycle parade arrives in Tiananmen Square. A student ties cotton tape on his mouth and forehead. The words on it say, “Give my human rights back — I want to speak,” to support the appeals of reporters in the press in Beijing.

May 14, 1989: A flag saying "Democratic dialogue" on the Square at 5:00 pm, May 14. A professor appeals, “Save my students.” The banner behind him says, “Teachers and students will live and die together.”

May 15, 1989: Students on the third morning of the hunger strike on the Square. The participants of the hunger strike had quickly increased from 800 to 3,000.

May 15, 1989: Mother and son join the hunger strike together.
