About JCI E-Metro (MY)
Junior Chamber International, Entrepreneur Metropolitan (Malaysia) (E-Metro) is one of the 43 local chapters of Junior Chamber International Malaysia which is affiliated with the worldwide leadership organization, Junior Chamber International.
The vision of JCI E-Metro (MY) chapter is to develop young persons as business and community leaders, based on the spirit of em
powerment and sharing. A majority of the activities of this chapter will be geared towards this vision, by:
• providing accelerated learning in the fields of leadership, entrepreneurship, people management, communication, finance, marketing, negotiating, public relations and other relevant subjects. Such training sessions will be conducted by experts or authorities in those fields,
• providing opportunity for networking among the young, up and coming, entrepreneurs, business executives, community leaders and prominent businesspeople in society. At a higher level, a network of almost 400,000 members around the world offer a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas and conduct of business across country coundaries. Such direct experience with different custom and culture helps to promote world peace by creating international friendships.
The formation of JCI E-Metro (MY) was initiated by JCI Senator Ooi Hooi Kiang who shared this vision with her group of friends. Acknowledging a common agreement of these ideals, this group met to further refine the role of the new chapter and to bring it into fruition in March 2000. To lay the necessary groundwork, the newly-formed JCE-Metro began with a Protem Committee of 7 members, namely JCI Senator Ooi Hooi Kiang - Protem Chairperson, JC Anna Ng Choon Teng - Protem Secretary, JC Kevin Khoo - Protem Treasurer, JC Angie Chiong, JC Jess Ewe, JV Hor Li Yuen, and JV Oon Hock Chye. All committee members reside in Penang, Malaysia. This Protem Committee was guided by their Advisors JCI Sen. Billy Ooi and JCI Sen. Velvet Ooi who are also the Past Presidents of the sponsoring chapter, Junior Chamber Tanjung Bunga.
